hmm...

where is this strange school where no one does anything but make crayon drawings, all of the students look and act as if they were anywhere from the ages of 8 to 18, and people speak in words only occasionally? it must be a curious and magical place, indeed.

Bobert-Rob responds:

Quite really. And it's an art class, so they should be working on whatever assignment was given to them. Probably involved crayons, but not just random doodles. Of course, Glenn and Annie aren't working on their assignment, as Glenn's a slacker and Annie is too fixated on Glenn. Glad you enjoyed it!

cute

that was pretty good work there, especially for doing it all in one day. the pacing was good, although it would have been nice if it could have been a little faster in some places, rather than being completely even. also, some more variety in the animations would have been good. the music was a good choice for the subject matter. it was sort of interesting that the only color you used was when the main guy was blushing. maybe if there was a bit more shown as to what happened at the end it would have had more of an impact, but I understood what happened, so maybe what you have is enough. anyway, nice work, here. I'm looking forward to what you do in the future. keep practicing!

ForestXion responds:

thanks mate
i'll keep working...
well soon.. =p
"it was sort of interesting that the only color you used was when the main guy was blushing"
woa u did notice it ^^

cool

Nicely animated and an interesting idea. Well-timed with the music, too. It was funny how the fight just kept escalating and becoming more like a game in the real world. Personally, I would have liked to see a bigger ending to the fight, but what you had was already pretty good. I'll be looking forward to what you do in the future.

StephenRedmond responds:

Heh, yeah, the fight on the beach wasn't quite as 'epic' as I imagined. Thanks anyway.

hey, this has some potential

I watched this and the other movie you made with these characters, and your stuff is pretty good. The timing and editing is well done, and not everybody has a talent for that kind of thing, so nice work. The story flowed along in a coherent way. The voice acting is good, too. It would be nice if the recording quality was better, though. Also, you could use some more sound effects and possibly some music to fill in a few of the gaps between dialogue. But of course, the most important thing is that the jokes are actually funny, and you have some good stuff here in that respect. Although not every joke was laugh out loud funny, there were some good moments and interesting subtleties. I will say, though, that joke with the Kool-Aid man at the end has been done before on Family Guy. I'm not sure if that was intentional or if any of the other jokes were ripped from other places, but as far as I could see, it was pretty original and creative up to that point.

So, anyway, you have some talent and it's probably only going to get better from here. Your stuff will really be good once you get some more practice in and tighten up your animation. I'll be looking forward from what you'll be doing in the future.

Kalaloo-NB responds:

Thanks. We'll start recording with better equipment so the sounds will be better. I will be working on my flash animation when I have the time away from school and work and there will much more to come soon.

that was funny

I liked it. those orcas had it coming.

drumstick responds:

THOSE ORCAS WERE VERY INNOCENT. damn those asshole palm trees.

hmm..

You know, based on the shape of that turtle's feet and the size of its neck, it might actually be classified as a tortoise. Nice concept and animation, though.

Max-the-Great responds:

Actualy, the turtle may in fact be a tortoise. Wait, no he isn't, because I have trouble spelling tortoise.

well...

... I guess if you can steal three or four giraffes, a fifth one probably wouldn't make much difference.

mumbla responds:

it would totally make a difference! i mean you would have 5 giraffes!

Pretty good

The animation was pretty nicely done - polished and relatively smooth. Story wasn't really much my taste, but it was still alright. Inspirational and what not.

If you want your sound to sync up to the music you have to set it to "stream" (this makes it load faster, too). To do this, go to the layer with the sound and open up the properties window (in MX it's usually at the bottom of the screen). Then go under the sound menu and look for the the drop down menu for "Sync." Right now your Sync is probably set to "Event." The Event setting just starts playing the sound at a particular time, and isn't tied to the animation. Set it to "Stream" instead. Now your animation and the music will be linked together permanently, instead of moving in and out of sync based on processor speed and browser settings. You'll also notice that if you click and drag your cursor back and forth over the part of the timeline that has the sound, you can "scrub" the audio (the sound will play based on where the cursor is). Also, you don't have to go back to the beginning of a sound to hear it play while working on it Flash. Something to think about for the future.

Darunio responds:

That's a really good idea. Its a shame that it brings down the quality of the audio. I've got the preloader so that I don't have to worry bout that. The scrubbing thing is real neat though, it works really nicely in Flash but when I play it as an SWF some sounds are premature... not sure why that happens. If you can help me get around these problems I'll be sure to update the .swf, thanks Mr Raven. Heh heh.

omg taht wuz teh best!!!11!!

Some of those entries were so random and ridiculous that they were actually funny. Then again, some of it was just stupid. But hey, you win some, you lose some, I guess. I laughed out loud during penor/ninjers battle. That was great.

piconjopwnsj00 responds:

ph33r teh Piconjo p3n0r.
thx <3 j00

Well, hmm...

Really smooth and well-concieved animation, and it kind of had the whole "random craziness" thing going for it, but what the hell?

You should either make it more crazy and random or give it more of a plot (Yeah, those are two opposite things, but this was sort of in-between, and thus not much of anything). I could tell you were trying to make this sort of funny and such, but there wasn't enough going on. I mean, what you had was good as far as timing, cinematography, sound, etc. But there could have been more. So maybe next time, something a little longer? Oh, and that little necrophilia joke at the end was kind of...not funny given the circumstances-at least I thought so. But I'm sure some other people got a chuckle out of it. Ah, whatever. You have great animating skills. Keep it up!

Sherbalex responds:

I was just making it up as I went along.
