cool

Nicely animated and an interesting idea. Well-timed with the music, too. It was funny how the fight just kept escalating and becoming more like a game in the real world. Personally, I would have liked to see a bigger ending to the fight, but what you had was already pretty good. I'll be looking forward to what you do in the future.

StephenRedmond responds:

Heh, yeah, the fight on the beach wasn't quite as 'epic' as I imagined. Thanks anyway.

hey, this has some potential

I watched this and the other movie you made with these characters, and your stuff is pretty good. The timing and editing is well done, and not everybody has a talent for that kind of thing, so nice work. The story flowed along in a coherent way. The voice acting is good, too. It would be nice if the recording quality was better, though. Also, you could use some more sound effects and possibly some music to fill in a few of the gaps between dialogue. But of course, the most important thing is that the jokes are actually funny, and you have some good stuff here in that respect. Although not every joke was laugh out loud funny, there were some good moments and interesting subtleties. I will say, though, that joke with the Kool-Aid man at the end has been done before on Family Guy. I'm not sure if that was intentional or if any of the other jokes were ripped from other places, but as far as I could see, it was pretty original and creative up to that point.

So, anyway, you have some talent and it's probably only going to get better from here. Your stuff will really be good once you get some more practice in and tighten up your animation. I'll be looking forward from what you'll be doing in the future.

Kalaloo-NB responds:

Thanks. We'll start recording with better equipment so the sounds will be better. I will be working on my flash animation when I have the time away from school and work and there will much more to come soon.

don't sweat the technique

it's not really my choice of subject matter, but that's some pro animation you got there--smooth lines and motions and an easy-on-the-eyes color palette. and within the confines of the Kirby "world" you did a good job of showing his abilities, enemies, and such. good work. I'll be looking forward to what you'll be coming out with next.

nice animation, creative concept.

nice work with the frame-by-frame stuff. the music and the sound effects worked well. it was just well put together overall. I was just hoping for more of an ending. but you can't always get what you want, eh? cheers.

some good stuff in an overdone genre

I was actually surprised that I liked this because I expected it to be the same stick movie that I've seen 50 times before, and in many ways it was. But on its own, it's also a really well done animation with some great fight choreography and interesting weapons. I always admire these flashes that have so much stuff going on in the screen at the same time. Good work.

that was funny

I liked it. those orcas had it coming.

drumstick responds:

THOSE ORCAS WERE VERY INNOCENT. damn those asshole palm trees.

I agree, but...

I know it was your first work, and knowing that, I can say the animation was pretty good. It was smooth and worked well for what you were saying.

As far as the message, I know it was based on a poem, but it seemed the poem itself was sort of missing some major points. There's no doubt that humanity has existed for thousands of years and could have continued to exist without computers as we know them today. But with all the scientific advancement in the world, they came as a sort of logical step. You say that the big things that people use computers for today are shopping, listening to music, playing games, and chatting. Well, sure, a lot of people do that stuff, and it has a huge impact, but the real thing computers give us is advanced calculation and data storage. You sort of hinted at this when you said something like "world history" or "the whole world" is in the computer. In the movie, you said that in the old days people only used computers for their payrolls and word processing. But really, computers came about mostly because of research and infrastructure needs. For example, probably the biggest advances in modern computers came in the 50's and 60's when they were developed as missile guidance systems (kinda scary).

So anyway, I agree with what you were saying about the world being inextricably tied to computers nowadays, but I think you could have made the point more dramatic and profound if you really went into what computers are used for beyond chatting and games, but I realize it might be hard to say it poetically or pictorially, so I'll shut up now. Peace.

yep, another classic

the great thing about your movies is that you they're not just fantastic pieces of animation, but they also got soul. thank you for bringing soul to Flash animation.

brilliant!

Great parody of the relatively insignificant event that got crazy international news coverage. You thought of a lot of different scenarios. Good work.

hmm..

You know, based on the shape of that turtle's feet and the size of its neck, it might actually be classified as a tortoise. Nice concept and animation, though.

Max-the-Great responds:

Actualy, the turtle may in fact be a tortoise. Wait, no he isn't, because I have trouble spelling tortoise.
