Good symbolism, etc.

I especially liked the symbolism of the scissors and how they played into the imagination of a self-mutilating person. Although the animation could have been cleaned up a little, you did an overall good job of using the artwork to heighten your theme. The part where the guy was getting beat up by the imaginary guy was stylistically very well done. Great job tying it all together with the music. Keep it up.

Thanks for reviewing, sorry about the bad artwork in the beginning!

It could have been cool...

It might have been an ok tribute if you actually did the entire intro sequence and used the right music. If you actually hand-traced that stuff, it might have taken some effort. However, this didn't have any creativity and, in my opinion, you didn't really finish what you were trying to do. Also, I must say, it's barely worth it to do flash movies at 29 frames per second. It generally just adds unnecessary file size and eats up RAM. Anyway, you have talent, though. Try to use it better.

i'll put my work against yours any day...oh wait, you don't have any....suprise, suprise.

hey, that's a good one

You got some funny, original stuff here. Don't really have much to complain about. Keep up the good work.

Needs improvement... but I think you know that

This is definitely not bad at all for a first flash. Having read your "Author's Comments", I think you recognize that there are obvious problems with it, but there were some good things, too. You are a talented artist. Obviously, there is room for improvement, but overall your drawing skills are much better than 90% of what you'll find in the portal. The actual animation was a bit lacking, but still not bad for a first go. The storyline was somewhat funny, in my opinion. However, don't let that discourage you; there are plenty of people that would like your type of humor.
The only real problemm with the movie that made it seem recognizably incomplete was the lack of sound. Certainly some type of intro music, sound effects, and VOICES would do this movie some good. I'm not sure whether or not you have access to any type of voice talent that would fit the roles, but it would definitely add a new dimension to the movie. However, if you must stick with text boxes, time them a little better or put less dialogue in each bubble so that even the slowest reader will be able to catch everything.
Other than that, great job. Keep practicing.

Well, it's not really very good...

...but I'm sure you know that. However, seeing as how you probably haven't animated very much before, this is definitely an excellent start. This is a lot better than 80% of the first submissions that come through here, so be proud of yourself. However, I would like to see you practice a little more before your next one.

Good work

One of the hardest things to do in a Flash animation is to create somber emotion. You have accomplished that goal in this movie. Could this be a symbolic representation of the wholesale discrimination against Clocks in the Portal? Whatever it was, the animation and use of color was very good and everything went well with the music. Keep up the good work.

Hypocritical?

I really must say that at the outset of this movie, I was happy to see someone protesting obscure Newgrounds reviews that do not help the creator of the work improve. However, after the initial 30 seconds or so, as the movie became incredibly boring and repetitive, churning on with no end in site, I realized something: I don't even agree with the premise of the movie.
One of the great things about NG and any website or forum that allows people to freely critique, judge, and review the works of others is the freedom of voice that it gives those that use it. Whether reviews are based on personal opinions, moral and artistic values, or other aspects of a work, they are the product of free minds from all walks of life. When you submit movies to NG, you are submitting it to an open forum. Surely, many will enjoy your work. However, perhaps some reviewers will rip into your movie like a pack of wild dogs, but that is to be expected. It is a cold, harsh world out there.
Does this make it all the more difficult for the artist to please his or her audience? Yes, indeed it does. However, the true artist is not hindered by the cruel, vague words of others. Only the true artist knows the effort put into his or her craft. Only the true artist knows when their work is complete. Should that not be satisfying enough?
No? Can you settle for no less than a series of 100% positive reviews? Well, this may border on impossible, but if you wish to please your audience, you must take them ALL into account. Certainly, you may wish to ignore some, but as an artist you have that right. However, to please others, you must listen to what ails them. If they think your movie is long and boring, make your movies shorter or more action-oriented. If they are offended when you did not wish to do so, remove the offensive material.
As for the movie, itself, I saw nothing very creative or clever in the storyline. The animation was nothing special, sprites and all. The music and sound wasn't that great, and it's not because I have any particular feelings about music from the 60's and 70's. The humor was practicaly non-existent in my opinion. The dialogue seemed like your personal rants about NG reviewers.
In my opinion, you should have kept this stuff to yourself, but it is clear many people disagree with my opinion. People that disagree with ME have put YOU on the daily Top 5 list. Is that not the beauty of Newgrounds? Is that not the beauty of the review system?

impressive

3D flash animation is something of an untapped resource, but here you have showcased a small sample of how the medium can be used to combine music and motion. It was very professionally done, although a little simplistic and random. My only complaint is the lack of continuity and theme, as well as the rather weak overall effect of the piece.
Throughout the movie, there is no truly recurring theme or color scheme that I would expect from a movie like this. Although completely randomized shapes, colors, and motions may be interesting to the eye, it does little to create an impact or help the viewer interpret the song. My personal feeling is that you should focus on a particular color and shape scheme, or shift themes to match the fluid metamorphosis of the music. For example, a soft mellow passage in the song could be matched with rounded shapes and lettering as well as lighter color tones. Similarly, a deeper, more pulsating rythm could be complemented by sharp, angular shapes and wildly iradescent colors.
I hope you found this review to be helpful (assuming that you actually read it in the first place), and I look forward to seeing your future endeavors.

What do you mean it doesn't make any sense?

...It makes perfect sense! Good work.

Funny stuff

Creative, original, appropriate music, good jokes. Animation could have used some work, though. The Microsoft joke at the end was great. Keep it up.
